Well known International Retail Brand is seeking experienced Apparel and Footwear SENIOR BUYERS to join their team in Joburg. The buyers will be responsible to plan and effect buying strategies as he or she develops, sustain and monitor supplier listings across the brands nationally. Ensuring that all buying falls within the parameters set by the company policies, procedures and code of conduct. The Buyers will be based at Head Office but will be required to travel from time to time.
Working very closely with the merchandisers, the buyers will be required to ensure the right products are selected to bring into the stores. Some of your responsibilities will include:
- Selecting new products and reviewing the old
- Finding the right suppliers
- Negotiating prices
- Ensuring the products are delivered on time
- Interpret reports and predicting future sales
- Pitching ideas to senior management
- Stock control
- Budgeting
- Reacting to any changes in customer demand
- Maintaining relationships with existing suppliers while seeking new ones
- Getting feedback from customers
Skills and Experience required:
- Must have a Diploma or Degree in Mathematics or Accounting
- Minimum of 5 years retail fashion experience in Buying, specifically in Footwear or Apparel fields
- Must be able to work under pressure and handle stress
- Essential to have excellent Communication and Human Relations skills
- Must LOVE retail and fashion!
- Be Proactive and Quick Thinker
- Must have excellent computer skills
- Analytical thinker (Flair for figures)
- Stock control, Merchandising and Floor Control
- Product and supplier knowledge
- Be a team player and peoples person
- To adapt to any situation
- Must have a valid drivers license and your own reliable vehicle
Salary negotiable depending on experience
